R v B.K - Central Criminal Court (2025)

Pan Symeou, together with James Scobie KC and Christian Wasunna of counsel, successfully secured the acquittal of a defendant charged with manslaughter, following his trial at the Old Bailey.

The defendant, BK, was charged with manslaughter, conspiracy to rob and conspiracy to burgle with three other co-defendants. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle but was found not guilty of both manslaughter and conspiracy to rob. The defendants were alleged by the prosecution to have participated in a robbery which led to a manslaughter. BK’s successful defence challenged the police investigation and the prosecution’s reliance on cell site evidence and maintained that he was not involved, and had no knowledge, of both the manslaughter and robbery.
